Please review all applicable deadlines below. Filing and payment rules vary depending on your personal situation. If you have any questions about which deadlines apply to you, please contact your DURCO representative.
General Deadline for Individuals
| April 30, 2026 | Filing and payment deadline for most individuals. Any balance owing must also be paid by this date to avoid interest charges. |
Self-Employed Individuals and Their Spouses
| June 15, 2026 | Filing deadline for self-employed individuals and their spouses or common-law partners. Any balance owing must still be paid by April 30, 2026 to avoid interest charges. |
Deceased Taxpayers
The filing deadline for the final return of a deceased individual is determined by the date of death:
- Passed away between January 1 and October 31: final return due by April 30, 2026
- Passed away between November 1 and December 31: final return due six months after the date of death
Deceased Taxpayers Who Carried on a Business
Where the deceased was self-employed or carried on a business, different rules apply:
- Passed away between January 1 and December 15: final return due by June 15, 2026
- Passed away between December 16 and December 31: final return due six months after the date of death
Investment issuers have until March 31, 2026 to provide T3 slips. If you hold investments, we recommend waiting until all slips have been received before submitting your document package. To safeguard accuracy, DURCO will not submit returns for clients with investment income or capital gains until the first week of April 2026 at the earliest.
Income Tax Instalments
If your tax balance owing has exceeded a certain threshold in prior years, the CRA may require you to make quarterly income tax instalment payments throughout 2026. Instalments are generally required where your projected net tax owing for 2025 exceeds $3,000, and your actual net tax owing in either 2024 or 2023 also exceeded $3,000.
If instalments apply to you, payments for 2026 are due on the following dates:
| March 15, 2026 | First quarterly instalment payment |
| June 15, 2026 | Second quarterly instalment payment |
| September 15, 2026 | Third quarterly instalment payment |
| December 15, 2026 | Fourth quarterly instalment payment |
Insufficient or late instalment payments may result in interest and penalties assessed by the CRA. If you are unsure whether instalments apply to your situation, we encourage you to speak with your DURCO representative well in advance of the first payment date.
Document Submission Deadlines
To ensure your return is prepared and filed on time, please submit all of your tax documents to DURCO by the applicable deadline below. Providing a complete, organized package by these dates gives our team the time needed to prepare your return accurately and without delay.
| April 20, 2026 | Document submission deadline for clients targeting the April 30 filing date |
| June 5, 2026 | Document submission deadline for self-employed clients targeting the June 15 filing date |
Submit all documents in a single, organized package to avoid processing delays. Incomplete submissions may result in your return being held until all required information has been received.
